We are currently looking for a software developer with the qualifications listed below. Our company, Nets To Ladders (formerly Onesta Software), is a small but growing company located in southwest Austin. This is a full-time permanent position. Required Qualifications:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent
- 5-10+ years development experience in the software industry
- Experience developing web based multi-tiered applications
- Experience developing Microsoft technology based products
Successful candidates will have expertise in many of the following areas:
- Windows environment software development
- C#, XML, and SQL
- ASP.NET based User interface design
- .NET Framework
- Web Services
- Visual Studio.NET development environment
- Microsoft CRM

Policy Research Associate
Reports to Research Director
Responsible for researching, documenting, and maintaining information and eligibility criteria for federal, state, county and local public assistance programs, corporate benefit programs, and tax credits. Responsible for determining program eligibility criteria and associated formulas and screening questions to be used in the screening function of the software.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Research benefit program descriptions, eligibility criteria, documentation requirements, and application process (including locating the correct application)
- Develop eligibility rules, formulas, calculators, and screener questions to be used in the screening function of the software based on policy
- Locate a policy contact when necessary to verify policy interpretation, application, or application procedure
- Use a standard template (excel spreadsheet) to document program eligibility criteria and convey eligibility rules, formulas, and calculators to development
- Work with development and/or QA to clarify questions and fix bugs/errors in eligibility rules, calculators, and screening questions
- Enter screening questions into an administrative software tool
- Locate a source for policy and administrative updates for programs and provide ongoing maintenance and as-needed updates to existing programs
- Review coworkers' research as part of quality control process and work with fellow researchers when they review your work
- Exhibit a high level of attention to detail in all of the above, ensuring all formulas and eligibility criteria communicated to the software developers is correct, and paying careful attention to grammar, spelling, style, and readability in screening questions, calculators, and tips
- Exercise judgment when needed to make decisions regarding policy interpretation
Knowledge and Skills:

- Familiar with Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Willingness and aptitude to learn new technology
Experience
- Demonstrated research skills with a minimum of two years research-related work experience or graduate-level research studies
- Familiar with government benefit programs and the policy process
- Bachelor's Degree required, Graduate Degree preferred in Public Policy, Social Work, or related field
